Fairino (FR series) and AUBO (i series) are both open, ROS friendly Chinese cobot platforms. The short answer: both are solid. Fairino covers a wider payload range in its core series (3 to 30 kg against 3 to 20 kg) and publishes European prices. AUBO has a long established i series and a newer iS series that goes up to 35 kg. For a European buyer, the delivery and support channel usually decides it. Sources at the bottom.

Some concrete numbers. The AUBO i3 does 3 kg over 625 mm at ±0.02 mm, the i5 5 kg over 886.5 mm at ±0.02 mm, the i10 10 kg over 1350 mm at ±0.03 mm and the i20 20 kg over 1650 mm at ±0.1 mm. On the Fairino side, the FR3 does 3 kg over 622 mm at ±0.02 mm, the FR10 10 kg over 1400 mm at ±0.05 mm, up to the FR20 with 1854 mm of reach and the FR30 with 30 kg.

Software and programming

Integrators like both platforms because they are open. AUBO promotes a fully open architecture with ROS compatibility and SDK access. Fairino goes a step further on transparency. The software is licence free with lifelong free updates, and the SDKs for Python, C++, C# and ROS/ROS2 are published on GitHub. On top of that you can script the controller in Lua. Look at which SDK ecosystem your team is comfortable with.

Price

AUBO pricing in Europe runs through distributors and marketplaces, on request. Fairino pricing is public. The FR3 starts at €4,600 excl. VAT, controller, cables and software included. You can see the full price list yourself.

European availability and support

In Europe you mostly find AUBO cobots through automation marketplaces and distributors such as Unchained Robotics (Germany) and ASBIS, next to AUBO's global partner network.

Fairino is distributed in Europe by TMC Robotics (fairino.be) in Ypres, Belgium. Cobots sit in stock in Belgium, in stock items leave within 1 to 2 working days, and there is a 400 m² demo centre where you can test with your own parts. You get one local partner who keeps stock, quotes within 24 hours and helps you through setup and integration, instead of a multi brand marketplace.

How to choose

  • Start with payload and reach. For palletizing type work Fairino goes to 1854 mm and 30 kg in its core series.
  • Both are open and ROS friendly. Check which SDKs, documentation and examples suit your team.
  • Compare real package prices. Fairino publishes European prices, AUBO quotes run through its channel.
  • Look hard at who supports you locally: stock, a place to test, training, and someone to call when a line is down. That usually matters more than a small spec difference.
